COVID 19

We are now operating under the Covid Protection Framework (Traffic light system). These settings will be reviewed fortnightly by the Government.

The Ministry of Education has provided guidelines for operating under the framework however we are able to make decisions based on the needs of our community, so that we operate in a way that reduces the risk of transmission of Covid 19. We’re not introducing any new changes on 3 December 2021 given that:
• enrolled children are unvaccinated
• that some parents/whānau are unvaccinated
• that some communities have lower vaccination rates
• young children are not immune to the Delta virus and
• some children are immune compromised

The following will continue to apply at all of our kindergartens:
• Wear a mask during drop offs and pickups (unless you have a mask exemption)
• Don’t stay any longer than necessary (limit time to 30 minutes maximum)
• Socially distance from other adults
• Stay outside of building if possible
• Volunteers helping out (including on excursions) must be vaccinated & provide evidence of dates of doses
• Scan/sign in for contract tracing

Additional Public Health measures in place at kindergarten include:
• Employees, contractors, volunteers, student teachers, agency employees and any visitors/parents staying more than 30 minutes must be vaccinated
• Do not attend if sick
• Good hygiene practices observed
• Cough etiquette practised
• No food/drink sharing
• Regular cleaning of high touch areas
• Good ventilation in buildings
• Excursions and events will have to be planned taking the framework into account

Notifying parents/caregivers
You will be notified if:
  • we know that a person who has been at kindergarten is being tested for Covid and isolating until they get their results. We won't share details of who the person is. You and/or you child won't need to test or isolate at this stage. We'll let you know the outcome.
  • we know that a person who has been at kindergarten has tested positive for Covid. We will be working with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education to establish who has been in Close contact with the confirmed case and what actions you will need to take if you are a Close contact.  This could include being asked to collect your child from kindergarten, undertake a Covid test and go into isolation for a period of time. It may be that the kindergarten has to temporarily close.
