Welcome To Bette Christie Kindergarten
Our kindergarten is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac within a 1 kilometre radius of 4 primary schools making us accessible for many families. We pride ourselves on the positive learning environment we provide for our children and families. Children are supported through a well-resourced programme which promotes creativity and independence. We are highly respectful of the important role each child’s whânau plays in their learning.
We offer an extended year service, which means that Bette Christie parents who need our kindergarten to be open during term breaks and over some of the Christmas period are able to access this here.
Our Session Times Are: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 2:30pm and Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm Our Staff To Child Ratio:
We have a ratio of 1 teacher to 10 children, with additional teacher aide support as well. |

The kindergarten philosophy reflects a strong focus on empowering children, and whānau participation in early childhood education and care. Children confidently lead their learning and communicate with staff. A calm and nurturing tone encourages them to make choices and explore individual interests. The curriculum increasingly supports both younger and older children's learning.
Teachers have immersed themselves in the bicultural curriculum over the past 18 months to support success for Māori. Teachers work closely with whānau to achievement a strong sense of whanaungatanga. The head teacher and teachers have revitalised relationships with local whānau and families. Children enjoy responsive teaching practices that celebrate their language, culture and identity. Teachers continue to grow their knowledge and practices in this key area.
